CHALLENGE:
Replace an existing hospital campus and its challenging underlying topography with a new senior living community.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • An Arts and Crafts vernacular with a mix of residential forms and materials sensitively integrates the buildings into the diverse suburban fabric of Kirkwood, MO.
  • Major enclosed parking garages tucked into the hillside and serve as a base for both the new residential development above and major green space that serves as the focal point for the residents.
  • Multi-story common areas are a response to the sloping site and offer a unique kind of transparency into the central green areas.
  • Casual dining opportunity adjacent to the major entry is the hub of resident activity.
