CHALLENGE:
Combine three distinct levels of supportive living on a “postage stamp” size site.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • A fine example of today’s trend of creating dense and flexible supportive living environments.
  • While a beautiful setting, the compact site challenged the team to efficiently design the building in order to maximize the unit count.
  • The team was able to achieve an aesthetic that clearly expresses the distinct exterior senior living branding style of the provider while respecting the materials and style needed to create consistency with the architectural detailing in the area.
  • The “figure eight” building configuration offers separation between the assisted living and memory support components while providing signature amenities, such as enclosed outdoor patios to serve multiple populations.
  • The memory support area includes dining and activity spaces as well as a Snoezelen Room for the distinct therapeutic needs of those with dementia.
  • The building was designed with some flexibility. By providing a higher level of construction, some of the AL units are able to be converted to higher levels of care if the need arises.
