CHALLENGE:
Repurpose an existing independent living building to help revitalize the campus by meeting current market trends and expectations.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • This project was a collaborative effort involving several design partners: Life Care Services (LCS), AMAI, AG Architecture and Spellman Brady & Co.
  • The key aspects of this extensive project were to elevate the first impression, add competitive amenities and utilize excess apartments to expand assisted living and memory support.
  • The team converted an outdated independent living structure into four stories of licensed care.
  • The first floor provides commons space with amenities and services focused on its assisted living residents with two floors of assisted living units above and a fourth level dedicated to memory support.
  • The project also included the gut and remodel of the independent living commons area.
  • The new amenity-rich building offers a more distinct point of entry and improved accessibility as well as a direct connection to the assisted living commons spaces to support resident engagement across levels of care.
