CHALLENGE:
Design an upscale apartment complex on a triangular shaped site with a significant grade change.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- The orientation of the L-shaped structure maximizes views of the natural landscape to the north while celebrating the sightlines of the downtown area to the south and east.
- The team used the location of the building and the grade change to create a strong pedestrian connection between the adjacent residential area and downtown destinations.
- The exterior façade uses material and color selections as well as detailing of balcony structures and roof forms to create a blended architectural style that incorporates
the developer’s desire for a contemporary aesthetic with the distinct colonial village styling of the surrounding area. - The high level of interior finishes and provided amenities, unlike anything in this market, make this development an attractive option for area professionals as well as empty nesters and retirees who are looking to downsize while remaining in the vibrant and thriving Delafield community.
