While the original nursing homes were places where small groups of people resided, the 1960s brought a more institutionalized model into existence. That increasingly unappealing model dominated the marketplace for decades.
I have been fascinated by the continuing evolution of the kind of building typology we have historically used for Continuing Care Retirement Communities. These communities originally consisted of a collection of multi-family residential wings and sprawling old-school single story skilled nursing wings.
It strikes me that one thing a service-oriented company such as an architectural firm should have as part of their core business philosophy is a solid reputation for exceptional service.
