AG welcomes Katie Miller as Director of Business Development

At AG Architecture, our tagline is a sense of community. Our long-lasting client relationships and award-winning projects have been a result of working with mission based organizations that share our deeply rooted commitment to enhancing a sense of community. As we continue to nurture our existing relationships and pursue new opportunities to innovate and collaborate, it was important to welcome a team member who aligns with our mission and company culture. Katie Miller is a respected professional with a long history of supporting mission based organizations, and she is passionate about helping people. She is excited to bring this passion to her new role as AG’s Director of Business Development.

“I am excited about Katie’s background in community outreach and as a senior living board member. Her career experience and passion for connecting with people made her ideal for this role!” — Eric Harrmann – Chief Design Officer | AG Architecture

A Community-Focused Career Path
Miller’s career path is modeled after someone she admires—her mother. While in elementary school, she watched her mother attend college, complete a communications degree and begin what would become a career working with non-profit organizations. Helping her mother at special events and with other projects gave Miller the unexpected opportunity to meet community leaders and learn about community needs. She followed in her mother’s footsteps earning a communications degree from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Having nurtured those early professional connections, Miller began her own career in the non-profit sector at  United Way in Waukesha County. Over the years she gained valuable marketing, fundraising, relationship building and leadership experience with organizations such as Carroll University, University of Wisconsin – Waukesha Foundation, Medical College of Wisconsin/National Children’s Study and the Oconomowoc Area Chamber of Commerce. She also invested in her professional development by completing a Master of Science, Management from Cardinal Stritch University.

Caring for Our Seniors
With AG’s focus on places where people live, through our multifamily, mixed use and senior living projects, Miller views her new position as an opportunity to extend her mission of helping people. Her passion for senior living has deep family ties. As a teenager, she remembers her great grandmother, who had Alzheimer’s Disease, living with, and being cared for by her grandmother. Even after she moved to a care facility, someone from the extended family visited every day. Miller and her husband recently welcomed his mother into their home.  Providing care and companionship for the multiple generations within her own family is a priority.

“Through AG, now I have the opportunity to help care for lots of people’s grandmothers and grandfathers,” says Miller. “I am excited to be a part of a firm that creates safe and beautiful homes for our elders.”

Making Connections
Miller looks forward to working with clients to thoughtfully consider project priorities and the needs and wants of diverse stakeholders. “I look forward to being part of AG’s collaborative consensus building process and helping stakeholders gain community support for their projects,” describes Miller.

In addition to her role with AG, Miller is an active corporate board member with Shorehaven in Oconomowoc, an appointed board member of the Oconomowoc Parks and Rec and is playing an instrumental role in introducing a new organization called Friends of Oconomowoc Parks and Trails.

“I am an Oconomowoc resident, and supporting these organizations reinforces my personal sense of community,” says Miller. “I look forward to opportunities to help enrich the lives of others through enhancing that sense of community feeling through AG’s work in local neighborhoods and across the country.”

A Few Fun Facts
In her spare time, Miller enjoys traveling. One of her favorite travel experiences was swimming with giant stingrays in Grand Cayman. She and her husband also enjoy the Southwest, so she looks forward to spending more time in Arizona and other sunny locations. While staying close to home, she has taken the opportunity to learn how to throw pottery. If you are lucky, you might have the opportunity for coffee and a conversation with her…and enjoy the coffee in one of her handmade mugs.
