AG is pleased to announce the promotion of Megan Scott to Senior Associate. This recognition acknowledges Megan’s leadership, technical expertise, dedication to delivering high-quality projects, and commitment to mentoring.

An Architect with an Eye for Detail

Megan’s path to architecture is rooted in art, curiosity, and a balance of creativity and technical thinking. She began college as a pre-veterinary major, then shifted to economics before ultimately embracing her true interest as a studio art major. After graduation, she worked as a colorist, creating colorways and patterns for a surfwear company. Surrounded by other creatives, she helped translate found fabrics and patterns into new palettes and products. She calls it one of the “coolest jobs” she’s ever had.

Over time and exposure to the work of architects such as Frank Gehry, Megan realized the power of the built environment and the art of architecture. “Discovering that architecture could be art was a light-bulb moment for me,” says Megan.

A combination of timing, opportunity, and her uncovered passion for architecture drew her to graduate school at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, which became the bridge from her roots in Southern California to a fulfilling life and career in Southeastern Wisconsin. She has been a registered Wisconsin architect since 1999 and first joined AG in 2008.

Champion of Quality
and Coordination

Due to her art-based background and strength in technical problem-solving, Megan approaches projects with both creativity and precision. She sees the art in construction documents and specifications—a carefully composed set of instructions that enables a building to be realized in the way everyone has envisioned.

“You cannot achieve a great built result without great documents,” notes Megan.

As Megan guides a project through the construction documentation process, she leads by example, holding the bar high for clarity and completeness. She is a hard-working and resourceful problem solver who stays in tune with industry trends and advancements to best serve her clients. Furthermore, she looks at project details and decisions from the perspective of all stakeholders—owners, developers, contractors, and end users. Megan takes ownership of a project’s success, advocates for clients, and collaborates with team members to ensure deadlines are met and goals accomplished.

“Megan has her finger on the pulse of what is happening in the world of architecture and brings information into the office so we can all learn and benefit from that knowledge,” says AG Team Lead and Senior Associate Ann D’Acquisto. “She is always striving for the betterment of the work we do, whether it is her projects or others. TEAM is definitely part of her thought process and guides her collaborative leadership style.”

A Leader Who Goes Above and Beyond

Megan’s promotion is rooted in her consistent willingness to step up, take ownership, and do more than what’s expected. One of Megan’s most impactful contributions has been leading a firm-wide effort to modernize and update AG’s specifications to an efficient web-based platform.

When several attempts had been made to move the spec project forward, but time and capacity were limited, Megan volunteered to take on the entire specification update effort. She now oversees the content and ongoing updates to ensure accuracy and alignment with industry best practices. Furthermore, she collaborates with firm leadership to refine and expand sections as project needs evolve. As part of AG’s Standards Committee, Megan has become the firm’s go-to resource for specifications, helping shape quality and consistency across projects.

To deepen her expertise and leadership in this area, Megan joined the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). She also became a Certified Construction Specifier (CCS). In addition to her spec and standards work, Megan supports AG’s success through other initiatives, including business development efforts, membership in the American Institute of Architects (AIA), volunteering for firm charity-focused projects (like Canstruction), and speaking at Wisconsin LeadingAge.

Mentoring the Next Generation

The impact of Megan’s lead-by-example style is felt at every level of the firm but is especially evident with the growth of AG Emerging Professionals. As a project manager and approachable resource, she helps team members develop the judgment and skills required for effective problem-solving and project delivery.

“Megan is a tremendous asset to AG and my team,” describes D’Acquisto. “She taught at UWM and has a great way of explaining and mentoring our younger emerging professionals. They look to her for help and reach out to her often with questions. She fosters their curiosity and encourages their learning process.”

Not only does Megan’s mentorship help ease the transition from school to practice, but her guidance also teaches them to see the art of construction documents and encourages the mindset that every project should be the best it can possibly be.

“Working with Megan has provided me with valuable opportunities for growth through her mentorship over the years,” says AG Design Team member Jarincy Flores Rodriguez. “As a leader in the office, she exemplifies the qualities to which I aspire. Her deep knowledge of the profession is evident in the projects she leads. Furthermore, her guidance while collaborating on these projects has helped me develop as a designer and future licensed architect. She is a strong and respected leader in the profession, and I look forward to continuing to learn from her.”

Congratulations Megan!

From her early days as an art student and colorist to her current role as an architect, specifier, and mentor, Megan has consistently combined creativity, rigor, reliability, and professionalism. Please join us in congratulating Megan on her well-deserved promotion to Senior Associate. Her leadership, initiative, and dedication to both quality and people will continue to strengthen AG and support our clients and partners for years to come.
