AG is pleased to announce Argentum has recognized two of its projects for design excellence. Argentum is the leading national association exclusively dedicated to supporting companies operating professionally managed, resident-centered senior living communities and the older adults and families they serve. The organization awards senior living innovation through its annual Senior Living by Design program.

AG’s St. Rita Square project was honored as one of five finalists. Capri Communities worked with AG Architecture, Direct Supply® Aptura® and Pepper Construction on this urban infill project. St. Rita’s explores a new way of enhancing a sense of community within a walkable urban environment by integrating senior living with a liturgical setting.

The design solution evolves Capri’s successful senior living model by translating a horizontal suburban configuration into a vertical urban solution. The design and amenity offering pays tribute to the Italian heritage of the community within a modern environment. Cherished artifacts from the original church, such as stained glass and signage, were incorporated into the exterior and interior design. The new church is a featured amenity that plays an important role in fostering the minds and active lifestyle of seniors while deepening the connection to the surrounding neighborhood. The project provides a vibrant mixed use environment that offers seniors a unique option in the marketplace.

The project design was acknowledged for respecting and celebrating the traditions and cultures of neighborhoods. According to judge Chris Hollister, president of Pegasus Senior Living, “This urban infill project oozes authenticity and local community connections.”
