St. Rita Square, a $40M senior living community on Milwaukee’s lower east side, was honored as the Best New Development – Health Care by the Milwaukee Business Journal. The publication’s esteemed Real Estate Awards program recognized St. Rita Square as one of the 18 top real estate projects completed in 2020.

The Business Journal awards program focuses on the best real estate deals and projects in Milwaukee, Kenosha, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha counties with an emphasis on community impact and overall project success. This year there were more than 45 projects submitted.

St. Rita Square integrates senior living with a liturgical setting to provide a unique mixed use development—creating connectivity and enhancing a sense of community within a walkable urban environment. By tearing down the existing church, school and convent, along with two multi-tenant residential buildings, the site provided the space needed for 118 units of independent living, memory care and assisted living.

While the project winners were announced via a virtual event, Capri Communities hosted an intimate gathering of team members and key stakeholders at St. Rita Square to celebrate this achievement.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Capri Communities and the entire project team to bring this unique urban senior living concept to life,” says Eric Harrmann, AIA, chief design officer at AG Architecture. “It was great to have this opportunity to celebrate together.”

In addition to this local recognition, St. Rita Square has been recognized nationally as an exceptional senior living project. It was one of five projects that received top honors in Argentum’s Senior Living By Design Awards.
