The AG Team is pleased to share two exciting award announcements. Arabella, an adaptive reuse multifamily project for J. Jeffers & Co., continues to receive national recognition. Multi-Family Executive Magazine has selected the project as an MFE Awards finalist in the Adaptive Reuse category. And AG has once again been named one of the Best Places to Work by the Milwaukee Business Journal.

MFE Awards – Finalist

Adaptive Reuse - Arabella Commons Area

Jeffers & Co. embraces development challenges that pose opportunities to enhance communities. The historic Horlick Malted Milk Company, once one of the City of Racine’s largest employers, offered a complex of buildings on nearly 16 acres to be redeveloped and adapted to new uses. The intent of the Belle City Square development is to create a town center and draw people into a hub of activity while providing a sense of safety and security for residents in new market rate and affordable living spaces. The ambitious developer with the support of the city wanted to reenergize this area of Racine, Wis. with a renewed sense of community.

Arabella, the first project completed at Belle City Square, was developed to address Racine’s high demand for affordable housing. J. Jeffers wanted the solution to deliver high-quality units across a range of 1- to 3-bedrooms for maximum variety and livability. Providing amenities and common areas normally associated with market rate housing was a priority while aligning the associated costs with “affordable” rental rates. The positive response and full occupancy were almost instantaneous.

The 2022 Multifamily Executives Awards highlights the industry’s leaders, innovative projects and inspiring programs. Arabella was one of three finalists in the Adaptive Reuse categories. The Grand Award recipients in each category will be announced at the annual MFE Conference in Las Vegas in September.

Congratulations to J. Jeffers & Co., AG, CG Schmidt and the entire project team!

Milwaukee Business Journal Best Places to Work

Companies ranging in size from “micro” to extra-large” participated in the nomination process for the esteemed honor of being named one of the Best Places to Work by the Milwaukee Business Journal.

The entire program drew approximately 125 nominations and AG was selected as one of fifteen companies in the Medium Category (50 to 99 employees). An important part of the process was employee feedback via an online survey with the program partner, Quantum Workplace. Questions explored topics such as personal engagement, communication and resources, teamwork, retention, alignment with goals, trust with co-workers and senior leaders, manager effectiveness and job satisfaction. Winners were selected based on the highest scores in each company size category.

While architecture firms are often recognized by a portfolio of work, AG knows the true value is in the people who make up the team. The firm’s success has been built on the knowledge and reputation of its people. Project awards are always exciting, but this recognition is special because it is rooted in employee satisfaction and reinforces AG’s commitment to its talented team of professionals.

AG looks forward to celebrating this honor with team members at the upcoming event.
