A Q&A with Megan Scott
What does the Women in Construction – Architect of the Year recognition mean to you?
“It’s an incredible honor. I’ve always seen myself as part of a team working together to make each project the best it can be, so I never expected to receive an award like this. Having that hard work recognized is exciting, unexpected, and deeply appreciated.”
As a Project Manager and Senior Associate, how do you approach mentorship?
“My approach to mentoring is to give context, not just redlines. I remember what it felt like when I was starting my career. In the beginning, we all lack the knowledge and confidence that comes with years of experience. When I mentor, I focus on explaining the ‘why’ behind decisions, sharing my experiences, and reassuring people that it’s okay not to know everything yet—as long as you keep asking questions and learning. I emphasize communication, listening, research, and timely action as the core skills for managing a successful project.”
Reflecting on your career, what women in the industry have inspired or guided you?
“Having worked at AG during two chapters of my career, totaling more than 15 years, I’ve had multiple women in leadership to learn from—like Tracey Schnick and Ann D’Acquisto—showing what’s possible. Seeing them lead teams and the firm made it clear that women can reach the highest levels here, and that example is something I hope to pass on to the next generation.”
What advice do you have for women pursuing a career in the construction industry?
“The construction and architecture industry asks a lot of you, but it also gives you the flexibility to build a balanced life around meaningful work. You’re constantly solving problems, meeting new people, and tackling new projects. Ask questions, use your resources, and know that the work is never boring. If you’re willing to commit, it can be a very rewarding and sustainable career.”
Cheers to Megan!
The AG Team celebrates Scott’s professional achievements, leadership, and mentorship, and congratulates her on her well-deserved recognition as one of The Daily Reporter’s 2026 Women in Construction.
