AG Architecture is pleased to announce the promotion of Michael Miller, AIA to Chief Operating Officer (COO). Miller joins Chief Design Officer (CDO) Eric Harrmann, AIA together serving as AG’s executive officers, leading the next generation of this legacy firm.

The leadership transition is the next step in what has been a long-term strategic planning effort. In 2018, Tracey Schnick, AIA stepped into the COO role and was joined by Harrmann as the CDO in 2020. Schnick and Harrmann represented the next generation of leadership for AG after the retirement of long-time principals Stephen Alexander and Gene Guszkowski. In February 2025, Schnick will retire from AG after an exemplary 35-year career with the firm.

“Mike’s ability to understand and maintain a project’s design vision throughout the construction process has made him a successful project and team leader and a true client advocate,” describes Harrmann. “As he steps into the COO role, this perspective will serve the firm well. Our complementary creative and analytical skills and ability to provide innovative solutions and detailed execution will allow us to continue AG’s effective leadership strategy and firm structure. I am excited to have Mike join me in a more visible role promoting AG’s services and fostering a dynamic employee-owned company culture.”
Miller has been part of the AG team since 2008. He is a well-regarded Team Lead who has worked on local projects such as J. Jeffers & Co.’s Belle City Square, the revitalization of the former Horlick Malted Milk Company site in Racine, and St. Rita Square, a Capri Communities senior living project integrated with a liturgical setting in the heart of Milwaukee. He has also worked with senior living providers on projects nationwide, including PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America®) and The RiverWoods Group.

In addition to guiding the completion of successful, award-winning projects, Miller has supported and mentored the firm’s project management teams. In 2019, he received the Daily Reporter Newsmaker Team Leader of the Year award. Furthermore, as a Senior Associate, Miller has been part of AG’s long-term strategic planning and transition to an employee-owned company.

“Mike’s ability to see the big picture and help drive the firm’s goals as well as projects has made it clear he is the person for the job,” says Schnick. “Mike will make a great COO to continue guiding the firm forward.”

A Q&A with COO Mike Miller

As COO, what do you want clients to know about working with AG?

AG has a reputation for a high level of service, and that bar will remain high. We will continue to be an advocate for our clients, prioritizing their success and the success of their projects.

How will you support relationships with project partners and colleagues?

As client advocates, we value partnerships with consultants and contractors so we can work together to stay ahead of project challenges. Our due diligence and detailed construction documentation packages make us knowledgeable team members. In many instances, we foresee obstacles. We want to work collaboratively to solve problems and make the adjustments needed so we maintain the integrity of the design while keeping the project on track and within budget.

What most excites you about your role in continuing the legacy of AG?

In the years leading up to my transition to COO, I have been part of the process of creating team member development plans and becoming an employee-owned company. I look forward to helping lift the entire team by supporting their individual goals and recognizing their voice in the betterment of the firm. I want to continue to reinforce a strong and supportive employee-owned company culture. While our firm does exceptional work, it is our people that truly set us apart. Our team is the true foundation of the firm and why we have a legacy to continue. I feel very fortunate to be in a position to continue supporting the team, evolving the firm, and carrying on the legacy.
